Tacita Dean was born in Canterbury, England, in 1965. She life and work in Berlin, Germany.
She studied in a Falmouth School of Art in England, in a Supreme School of Art of Athens, and Slade School of Art in London. In 1998 she was nominated in a for a turner Prize and she was awarded a DAAD scholarship for Berlin, In 2000. She has received the following prizes: The Aachen Art Prize in 2002; Foundation Sndretto Re Rebaudengo, Turin, Italy in 2004; the sixth Prize of Benesse at the 51st Venice Biennale in 2005; and the prize Hugo boss in the museum Solomon R. Guggenheim, in New York in 2006. She only participated in a Biennale of Venice in 2003 and 2005.
